BusinessMarketIQ is a product of Thelon Technologies Inc., a corporation organized under the laws of Ontario, Canada (“Thelon,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use the BusinessMarketIQ website and related services (the “Platform”).

We designed this Policy to align with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and common international privacy expectations for online marketplaces, including transparency, purpose limitation, data minimization, security safeguards, and individual rights.

1. Who is responsible

Thelon Technologies Inc.

Privacy and data requests: hello@businessmarketiq.com

2. Scope

This Policy applies to visitors, registered users (including buyers, sellers, brokers, and administrators), and anyone who submits information through the Platform, including listing inquiries and contact forms.

It does not cover third-party websites or services that we do not control, even if linked from the Platform.

3. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Platform, we may collect:

Account and profile information — such as name, email address, role (buyer, seller, broker), and account settings.

Listing and business information — content you submit about a business opportunity (for example titles, descriptions, locations, financial teaser figures, photos, and related materials). Sellers and brokers are responsible for the accuracy of listing content they provide.

Inquiry and communication information — messages and details you send through inquiry or contact forms, and related correspondence.

Payment and promotion information — if you purchase featured or spotlight promotion, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive limited billing and subscription metadata needed to fulfill promotions; we do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.

Technical and usage information — such as IP address, device/browser type, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed, referring URLs, and diagnostic logs.

Cookies and similar technologies — used for essential site operation, authentication, security, and preference settings.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • create and manage accounts;
  • operate, moderate, and display marketplace listings;
  • route private buyer–seller inquiries;
  • process promotion subscriptions and related billing events;
  • provide customer support and respond to requests;
  • protect the Platform against fraud, abuse, and security threats;
  • improve reliability, performance, and user experience;
  • comply with applicable laws and enforce our Terms of Use; and
  • communicate important service notices.

We do not sell personal information.

5. Legal bases and consent (including international users)

Where Canadian privacy law applies, we collect, use, and disclose personal information for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, and we obtain consent where required (including through account registration, voluntary form submissions, and cookie choices where applicable).

Where European Union / UK GDPR-style rules apply to you, we typically rely on: performance of a contract (providing the Platform); legitimate interests (security, service improvement, fraud prevention); consent (where required); and legal obligation.

6. How we share information

We may share information with:

Service providers who help us operate the Platform (for example hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, analytics, and payment processing such as Stripe), under contractual obligations to protect the information.

Other users, only as needed for the marketplace — for example, inquiry messages may be shared with the relevant listing owner or broker. Seller phone numbers and other confidential fields are not displayed publicly on listing pages.

Professional advisors or authorities when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or respond to lawful requests.

A successor entity if Thelon Technologies Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

We do not share personal information for third-party advertising networks.

7. International transfers

BusinessMarketIQ serves users interested in opportunities in Iraq and may be accessed internationally. Personal information may be processed in Canada and in other countries where our service providers operate (including, for example, cloud infrastructure providers).

When information is transferred across borders, we use contractual and organizational measures appropriate to the risk and to applicable law. By using the Platform, you understand that your information may be processed outside your country of residence, where privacy laws may differ.

8. Retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Platform, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security and audit records, and meet legal or accounting requirements. When information is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it where reasonably practicable.

9. Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we continually work to strengthen Platform security. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.

  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • delete your account or certain personal information;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (without affecting prior lawful processing);
